This film was shot entirely between dusk and dawn over the course of a week. We tried to highlight the contrast between the darkness, the nocturnal weather and the hustle and bustle of a city that never sleeps by using telephoto lenses almost exclusively, compressing large vehicles and residential buildings into the same depth of field.
For this purpose, we used an old Canon FD600mm 1:5.6 lens adapted to the Sony FS-7 camera.
After the daily commute and being dragged through public transport and traffic, people are crushed into their own narrow apartments where they can finally try to fall asleep to endure the next day.
We followed the genre of a city symphony, where the motorized frenzy and the movement of people back and forth becomes fundamentally impersonal offering us a glimpse into the urban sense of alienation.
